TOFINO SALTWATER CLASSIC RETURNS JULY 3–5, SUPPORTING YOUTH, EDUCATION, CONSERVATION, RECREATION, AND COMMUNITY ON THE WEST COAST
Tofino, BC — The Tofino Saltwater Classic returns July 3–5, 2026, bringing together anglers, families, visitors, businesses, and residents for one of the West Coast’s most anticipated summer events.
More than a fishing derby, the Tofino Saltwater Classic has become one of the region’s most impactful fundraising initiatives. Over the past 16 years, the event has raised more than $1.2 million to support programs and services that strengthen communities across the West Coast.
Funds generated through the event help enhance educational opportunities, support environmental stewardship, expand recreation programs, and contribute to the health and well-being of local residents. More than 20 organizations and initiatives benefit annually, including the Wickaninnish Community School Healthy Lunch Program, literacy initiatives, conservation projects, recreation opportunities, and other programs that make a lasting difference for local families.
“The Saltwater Classic was built on the idea that a great fishing event could create lasting benefits for the community,” says founder Brendan Morrison. “Every registration, sponsorship, volunteer shift, auction bid, and ticket purchased contributes to something much bigger than a weekend on the water. It’s inspiring to see how this event continues to bring people together while creating meaningful opportunities throughout our region.”
The three-day celebration offers activities for anglers and non-anglers alike, including:
• Tofino Saltwater Classic Fishing Derby – July 4 & 5
• Saltwater Sound Benefit Concert – July 3
• Online Community Auction – June 26 to July 5
• Youth ball hockey and kids’ dock fishing activities
• Family-friendly programming and community events
• Awards presentations and celebrations
• Opportunities to connect with local businesses, organizations, and visitors
A highlight of this year’s event is the Online Community Auction, running from June 26 through July 5, featuring an exciting collection of items and experiences donated by supporters and partners. Auction participants can bid on NHL experiences, vacation getaways, fishing charters, local experiences, unique merchandise, and much more. Every bid helps support the community initiatives that benefit from the Tofino Saltwater Classic.
Organizers are encouraging residents and visitors to get involved by registering for the derby, purchasing concert tickets, participating in the online auction, volunteering, donating, or attending one of the many activities throughout the weekend.
“The Saltwater Classic reflects what makes the West Coast special,” says the organizing committee. “It brings people together around a shared commitment to education, conservation, recreation, and community. The impact extends far beyond the event itself, helping create opportunities and resources that benefit local families year-round.”
Whether you’re an avid angler, a family looking for a memorable summer weekend, a local business, or someone who wants to give back, the Tofino Saltwater Classic offers a meaningful way to get involved.
Fishing registration is open, Saltwater Sound Benefit Concert tickets are on sale, and the Online Community Auction opens June 26.
